A vehicle tracking platform built over 14 years - and still evolving
We've been building and evolving the GTE Track mobile app for Global Telemetrics since 2012. What started as a straightforward vehicle tracking app has grown into a comprehensive platform covering real-time tracking, fleet management, geofencing, driver behaviour monitoring, and stolen vehicle recovery - rated 4.8 stars with over 8,000 reviews on the App Store.
This is one of our longest-running client partnerships and a good example of how we work: not as a one-off project team, but as a long-term technology partner that grows with the business.
About Global Telemetrics
Global Telemetrics is a UK vehicle tracking and security company operating since 2009. They are the billing and monitoring platform behind several major vehicle security brands including SmarTrack, Shadow Immobiliser, Clifford, and Autowatch, and provide OEM solutions to vehicle manufacturers.

The GTE Track app is the primary interface between Global Telemetrics' customers and the tracking platform - making it a business-critical system that has to work reliably at all times.
The App
The GTE Track app is available on both iOS and Android and gives Global Telemetrics customers direct access to their vehicles and fleets from their phone.
Real-Time Vehicle Tracking
- Live position or last known location for individual vehicles or entire fleets
- Speed, ignition status, and battery voltage displayed in real time
- Battery percentage tracking for compatible devices

Mapglu - Advanced Mapping & GIS
A key part of the GTE Track platform is our own Mapglu mapping and GIS system, which we developed specifically to handle the demands of real-time vehicle tracking at scale.
Rather than relying solely on third-party mapping services, Mapglu gives us - and Global Telemetrics - full control over the mapping layer:
- Custom tile rendering optimised for vehicle tracking use cases
- Real-time position plotting across large fleets without performance degradation
- Route visualisation with speed and event overlays on historical journeys
- Geo fence drawing tools with precise polygon and radius support
- Scalable architecture handling high volumes of concurrent tracking sessions
- Reduced dependency on third-party mapping API costs and rate limits
Mapglu is a good example of what happens when you work with a client long enough to understand their domain deeply - we identified the limitations of off-the-shelf mapping and built something purpose-fit.
How the app has evolved
The first version of GTE Track launched in 2012 as a relatively simple vehicle location app. Over 14 years of continuous development, we've added major capabilities in response to Global Telemetrics' growing business and their customers' needs:
